MORDRED HAEMON
WHO ARE YOU? NAME: Mordred Eirik Haemon BIRTHDAY/AGE: 1 October, 1990; 24 years of age. GENDER: Male SEXUALITY: Bisexual OCCUPATION: Witch; owns a bookstore. FACE CLAIM: Tom Welling
WHAT YOU ARE SPECIES: witch ALLIANCE: good or evil ABILITY: witchcraft and general spellweaving. ABILITY DESCRIPTION: a witch by both nature and birth, Mordred is a proficient spellweaver and tends to specialize in more manipulative techniques, such as spells allowing the user to subtly influence others with a kind of magic that is nearly untraceable to other witches not of the same area. Due to the fact that he tends to keep this a secret, though, to everyone else it appears as if he merely generalizes his magic, having yet to choose a "true" path.
YOUR SUCCESS LIKES:
Witchcraft. Spellweaving. Being amused. Observing. Men & women. When things go his way. DISLIKES:
Apples. Fear born out of ignorance. Ignorance and a general inability to understand things from a more broad perspective; he also dislikes idiots. The hot sun. The majority of hunters; he distrusts them.
STRENGTHS:
His inherent confidence. The ability to be subtle when needed. Figuring out the root of problems quickly WEAKNESSES:
Short-tempered with perceived ignorance. A strange fondness for lizards. Not overly strong in a physical sense.
FEARS: The discovery of his real affinity as well as, well, death. He's very against the whole idea, which is also why he fears the idea of a creature-war, or why he doesn't like Hunters. GOALS: Keep his affinity a secret, as well as keep a level head about the situations around the town. He also intends to firmly wedge himself into any conflicts that may arise as a strictly neutral party.
TELL ME YOUR PAST MOTHER: Delphine Dauid FATHER: Adalrick Haemon SIBLINGS: Helen & Milo Haemon (cousins; non-magical.) OTHER: Arthur Gareth Haemon (son; seven years of age). PLACE OF BIRTH: England CURRENT RESIDENCE: This town. HISTORY: Born in the English countryside in the year 1990, Mordred's life from the start was not an average one. A child from a magical mother and a rather stoic and hard to read father, he was tutored from a very young age in the ways of magic, even though his mother - a surprisingly bubbly woman - had a tendency to leave her young son to things (and materials) she likely wouldn't have approved of; however, Mordred's father said nothing off it, even after catching his son flipping through books detailing things the then-eight-year-old likely would have been better off not knowing. Though not warping him, the books caused Mordred to start observing people more closely, and more than once he mother had caught him staring unblinkingly and unflinchingly at both her and the guests she sometimes invited to her house, most of whom would later leave with a comment on what an "odd stare" the young boy had. He was an intelligent boy, too, though there was nothing he could do to prevent his father from moving him across seas, away from their large mansion in the English countryside. The rift between his father and his mother's family had always been an obvious thing, like a large gaping wound that had been left to fester quietly and painfully, and Morded, though only ten years old at the time of the separation, had always known his grandparents had disapproved of both him and his father.
Mordred's preteen and teenaged years were not much different. He continued his readings in secret, taking his first steps into the art of subtle and master manipulation, his first test subject being his lacklustre half-siblings on the one occasion he and his father went back to visit. Snicking in success, for neither of them had any magic, Mordred had quietly influenced them to perform various mindless tasks all day until a comment from his grandparents' on how much better they were than him sent him into a blind rage, upon which he instructed them to childishly smash things into the ground at age twelve. That was the last time he ever saw his mother in person, though every single Christmas and birthday he got a cheerful, hand-written card from her.
Mordred's bisexuality came as no real surprise for him. There was no drastic revelation or embarrassing talk to his father, whom he trusted to figure out if it really mattered which, of course, Adalrick did, being naturally perceptive himself. The two had always shared a close relationship, after all, even with the limited verbal communication due to Adalrick's anti-social tendencies. He graduated from some obscure school with a useful degree he claimed not to need anyway, instead opening a bookshop in Meadow Heights, where he had lived since he was fourteen years of age; however, this was merely a facade to mask the witchcraft he did, practising with the old books he acquired and collected in the back.
At the age of seventeen, with what was literally the last girlfriend he ever had, he managed to conceive a child. The girlfriend wanted to abort, but he promised to pay for the cost of pregnancy, including all the tests require, and as soon as Arthur was born he quite literally snatched the boy up and hired a nanny, raising the child with some help from his father. He moved into his own place - or rather, his own sprawling household, courtesy of the money he had influenced his mother into sending him - at age twenty and has lived there with Arthur ever since.
